About the
Black Business Directory

A place to find, support and grow Black-owned businesses

The Black Business Directory was created to make Black-owned businesses easier to discover.

Across Canada, the United States, and throughout the Diaspora, Black entrepreneurs are building thoughtful brands, providing essential services, creating employment and contributing to their communities. Yet many remain difficult to find outside of personal recommendations, social-media circles or occasional promotional campaigns.

This directory brings those businesses into one accessible space.

Whether someone is looking for a local service provider, an independent creative, a wellness professional, a publisher, a beauty brand or a unique product, the goal is to make the search simpler and the connection more direct.

Why the directory exists

Supporting Black-owned businesses should not require hours of research.

Many customers already want to spend more intentionally, but they do not always know where to begin. At the same time, many business owners are doing strong work without receiving the visibility, access or sustained community support they deserve.

The Black Business Directory helps close that gap.

It gives business owners another place to be found and gives visitors a practical way to discover businesses that align with their needs, interests and values.

More than visibility

Visibility matters, but being seen is only the beginning. A directory becomes meaningful when visibility leads to:

  • genuine discovery;

  • customer relationships;

  • referrals;

  • collaboration;

  • repeat support; and

  • long-term business growth.

The purpose of this platform is not simply to collect names. It is to strengthen the connection between Black-owned businesses and the people actively looking to support them.

How it works

Business owners and authorized representatives may submit a listing through the directory submission form.

Each submission is reviewed before publication to help maintain the quality, relevance and integrity of the directory.

Approved businesses may be listed with information such as:

  • business name;

  • category;

  • location;

  • description;

  • website;

  • social-media links; and

  • logo or business image.

Submission is free, and approval is never influenced by donations.

Who the directory is for

The Black Business Directory welcomes Black-owned:

  • product-based businesses;

  • service providers;

  • independent professionals;

  • artists and creatives;

  • authors and publishers;

  • wellness and beauty brands;

  • food and hospitality businesses;

  • consultants and educators;

  • digital businesses; and

  • community-based organizations.

Visitors do not need to identify as Black to use the directory. Anyone who wants to discover and support Black-owned businesses is welcome here.

What we believe

We believe Black businesses deserve more than occasional attention.

They deserve to be visible throughout the year.

They deserve access to customers who value their work.

They deserve to be considered first, not only when supporting Black business becomes a seasonal conversation.

And communities become stronger when people can find, invest in and recommend one another.

Our commitment

We are committed to building a directory that is:

  • AccessibleBusinesses should be easy to find and explore.

  • IntentionalListings are reviewed before publication.

  • Community-centredThe directory exists to connect people, not to place unnecessary barriers between them.

  • IndependentBeing listed does not require a donation, paid membership or advertising purchase.

  • Respectful: Business information is handled according to our Privacy Policy and directory standards.

Help the directory grow

The strength of the directory depends on participation.

Business owners can submit their businesses. Visitors can browse, share and recommend listings by filling out at contact form. Community members can send the directory to entrepreneurs who should be included. Every new listing makes the resource more useful. Every visit creates another opportunity for a Black-owned business to be discovered.

The goal is to make Black-owned businesses easier to find, easier to support and harder to overlook.
